Science and Art are interwoven

From a TED talk:

Science: understanding of universal experience.
Arts: universal understanding of personal experience.

So what are the universal experiences that we all share? That obviously would be curriculum. For the most part you can make this engaging. Once students identify the experience personally, their art expresses it to others. Would storytelling also be called art?

Students have used Comic Life, artistic pictures, voicethread, blabberize, Scratch, paint, paper drawings, etc. to show their understanding of material. I need to move further to how the content impacts them personally.

What are some of the artistic ways you have had students display their personal understanding?
